Who are the women in your life?

Today is Mary Ward’s International Women’s Day… a day to celebrate and appreciate the women in your life. It can be something as elaborate as cake and flowers or something as simple as just saying ‘I love you’. It’s a day where you notice every female person in your life and you give thanks to God that they exist.

During lunch, we’re going to be giving out cake to everyone in the school to celebrate. We’re going to be focusing on all the positives women are… the positives that women bring out… the positives that women achieve. We’re going to remember all of our heroes, ones from the past or people from right now.

We’re going to be happy that we know women who are awesome and amazing and we’re going to love them for it.

So come celebrate the women in your life, and do it not just because it’s International Women’s Day… you’re going to appreciate your mom and your sister, and your grandmother and your friends simply because you love them.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the women in our lives. Thank you for making them love us even when we’re not the most likeable.

Today, we will look around us, and we will open our eyes to see… to appreciate... all the women in our lives. We’re going to celebrate our mommies, our annoying sisters, our little cousins, our teachers, our aunts, our grandmothers and our friends.

We’re going to do it not just because it’s International Women’s Day. We’re going to do it because we should always celebrate and appreciate the women in our lives. We’re going to give them a hug, we’re going to say ‘I love you’… or, we just say ‘thanks’.

Lord, thank you for giving us such amazing, courageous, patient, funny, supporting and lovely fantastic people. We are never going to take it for granted ever again and we will remember it everyday.

Amen.

Also.  I went to Loretto College church and the archbishop of Toronto... something Collins did the mass.  He was fantastic and funny, and I would willingly go to church if he was hosting it.

500 missing aborginal women.
connxx

The chain of the missing women that you see upstairs represent the 500 missing aboriginal women who have been forgotten, who are being uncared for, who still suffer from injustice.

These include 14 year old AIELAH, who’s case is still not solved. These include the story of Chasidy Whitford, who was killed by her father just weeks before her second birthday. Her little body was found in a shallow grave on the Lakahahmen reserve. Just weeks before she died, Chasidy showed up at the hospital cut and badly bruised, an obvious sign of child abuse. And no one said a thing.

But that is not all. These women vary in age, in deaths and in lives, but they are people. They are not careless things that can be thrown away and forgotten, but they are.

As unfortunate as the case of Chasidy, she is one of the lucky ones. Her case is solved. Her murderer will be sentenced and punished. But the other 500 missing aboriginal women are not so lucky. The other 500 who’s cases are being ignored are still suffering.

Today in the foyer, there will be a powerpoint presentation going on, honouring these 500 women, proving that they are important. That they are people. That, even they – natives of this country – matter.   Because, we believe that aboriginal people also deserve respect, they also deserve attention, they deserve what every person is entitled to. They deserve equality.

If you believe that too, come down to the foyer and take a look at our presentation. Please be respectful and we hope you continue to remember.

so today, I went to the Royal York. which is apparently a super fancy hotel.

it is,  it's gorgeous and beautiful, and I will probably never enter again.

I listened to a pesky politican by the name of Art Eggleton talk about poverty issues.  which is fantastic, but he was a politican, and he used politican language.

whatever.

the food was great, but the portions were so tiny it was ridiculous.

i spilled tea all over the tv on live television.

It was very very fancy schancy.

i had salmon.

it was very good.

absolutely delicious.

there was much more, but I cannot say more, because I am tired.

but it was very very fun.

same melody over and over again.

the city's sleeping
and I'm still awake
you're barely breathing
it might be too late,

to save... to revive you.

your eyes have lost
all of their life,
the hair is tangled,
choking you tight

and you laugh... like it's your last

I'm crying and screaming,
knocking down walls,
wanted to tell youm
I'm gonna fall

into you... following you

you won't believe me
but that is alright
I'll meet you halfway
to afterlife

and we'll dance... just to pretend

that,

we're still alive
so smile right now
leave the world happy
never look down

you're always mine... to the end of time...

random interlude,,

You keep my grounded
even at my most disjointed.
and I can feel your fists of steel holding me up, always strong,
and before long, all the sand grains keep on falling,
time just keeps on ticking by.
but something of yours, hiding, caught my eye.

your heart keeps my head connected
you make me feel like a seashell unmolded

your crashing waves and heat jangle my nerves in the most soothing way
and your singing voice goes sour when you say.,

all the sand grains keep on falling, time just ticking by,
but something about you caught my eye:::

it was the loveliness of isolated wilderness
it was free... untamed, unnamed, unheard of

I want to run and hide with you.

the sand is prettier without dirty tire tracks.
but it's there to mark your way in case you do come back

and i'll give feather-embossed wings, see your hair glossed in the air.

feel the breeze singing underneath you,
how could it be that all

sand grains keep on falling, time just keeps ticking by
the sound of wind got crazier and your smile blinded my eye.

2. the awesome people in my life. the people I love, and the people I don't much love, but don't mind having around.  you know, family and friends, because that's the obligatory thing.
3. food. food. food.
4. falling from a snowboard over and over again, getting a ton of bruises where the sun don't shine, getting up and doing it all over again. but having that gust of soft snow billow around you and sting your face and stuff. it's nice.  I like it.
5. media. that includes television (reality tv and the mentalist...), computers *email and forums and chats and stuff, I do love you so**, youtube - because music is important and... uh, most importantly!!!  BOOKS.  reading, babe, reading.  oh and movies. I do love those.
6. fresh air. that stuff is good.
7. drinking water.  srsly.  its so comforting, it's ridicolous.
8. getting to do the stuff that I do, see... the stuff I WILL do.  i mean, getting deep for a moment here, but experience is lovely.  shitty at times, but lovely.
9. painting. drawing. art.  art ART!!!  love art.
10. sarcasm.  but only when I deliver it.  and ppl laugh, or it's witty.  or its spitting dialogue and banter on tv/books.  only then.

Deathbed Repentance

Deathbed Repentance

 What happens before you die,

When your life flashes before your eyes?

 What really matters?

It sure ain’t the number of times you’ve gone to church,

And it don’t matter when you’ve hurt.

Doesn’t really matter how much you love your family and friends.

Everyone loves theirs too when it’s their end.

 You ain’t got a difference,

Just need deathbed repentance.

Connie said (9:41 PM):

and question, for a survey, what would be some questions I could ask about abortion?

Gabriella says:

sorry i'm back

Connie says:

I already have, "prolife./prochoice?" "religion influences this?", "recommend abortion to a knocked up friend?" "if you were a parent, would you want your child to be aborted?" "Is it strange totalk about abortion?"

Gabriella says:

what's this for?

Connie says:

engeelish

Gabriella says:

exciting

Connie says:

yes!

Gabriella says:

i would ask something along the lines of...."do you thik it's necessary to categorize yourself as pro-life or pro-choice?

Connie says:

oh and, what's another word for parent, because some ppl might not consider themselves as 'parents', but still gender-neutral

Gabriella says:

guardian

Connie says:

I think I need more questions... I'm using size 16 font, and I still can't fill in a page on word/

Gabriella says:

lol

just make shit up

Connie says:

I did.

I can't anymroe

Gabriella says:

do you know someone who's had an abortion?

Connie says:

oh! that's good

Gabriella says:

would you get and abortion?

*an

ummm what else

Connie says:

already have that one

Gabriella says:

do you believe that it is right that abortion is legal?

Connie says:

ohh... that's good.

Gabriella says:

what year do you think it became legal in canada?

give then a few options

and then look up the year cause i can't remember...it was in the 80's

Connie says:

no, not doing research...

or maybe, because that is a good questino

Gabriella says:

don't be lazy

here

1988

Connie says:

haha.. oh, darling,. I do love you so.

Gabriella says:

how many more do you need?

Connie says:

um... one more

Gabriella says:

do you think that men should have a say in a women's choice to get an abortion?

Connie says:

oh that is so good!

you are wonderful

Gabriella says:

lots of practice

lol

Connie says:

I'm done!

Gabriella says:

and i'm a women's studies major...this is what i'm going to be doing for the next 4 years

lol

Connie says:

haha

would you like to see my survey? -flutters eyelashes-

(it is mostly your questions, though)

Gabriella says:

yes

Connie says:

alright

gmail account

yay!

Gabriella says:

alrighty

am i allowed to make suggestions

Connie says:

yes

yes please

Gabriella says:

ok for #1

instead of "for" say In reference to abortion...

it sounds better

#2...religious...not religion

Connie says:

wait... really?

shouldn't it be a noun,though?

Gabriella says:

#3...add "an in between recommend and abortion

oh you are right

i misread the sentence

Connie says:

oh. say that again!

Gabriella says:

lol

Connie says:

that wasn't it.

-pouts-

any more suggestions?

Gabriella says:

Connie says:

Gabriella says:

good job woman

Connie says:

Gabriella says:

lol

ok

Connie says:

why thankyou!, I spent 15 mins on it... and then you came along and graced my document

Gabriella says:

can i just do it here so i don't have to open my email

Connie says:

yay

*yeah

Gabriella says:

ok

#1....no

#2...for the sake of feminism yes

#3....no, it would not by my first option

#4....no

#5...no

#6...surprisingly regularily

#7...hard to tell...i'd like to think most people are pro-choice

#8....yes

Connie says:

alright

Gabriella says:

#9....yes

#10....YES

#11....1988...hehehe

Connie says:

btw, I'm definitely copying you as my example woman... haha. why yes, how did you guess/

*?

Gabriella says:

#12....no...but that's a tricky one

lol

Connie says:

really?

I think men should have a say in a woman's abortion

Gabriella says:

as i said it's tricky

Connie says:

sure thing

Gabriella says:

but when you start allowing men to have a say...it's no longer a women's right to choose

in the end, she's the one who's going to have to push the thing out of her and raise it

Connie says:

"have a say", as in, give his opinin

*opinion

I mean, he doesn't decided

*decide

but he does have a right to express his decision to the female

Gabriella says:

see if "men have a say"...they would have to have a legal say

Connie says:

which means...?

Gabriella says:

of course i think couples should talk about it

i would with the father of my baby

Connie says:

yeah

Gabriella says:

but for your question to have any validity, you have to imply that men would have a say under the law....which i don't agree with

Connie says:

oh

no

well... maybe

I dunno actually

Gabriella says:

i'm too tired to argue more

i'll write you a little comment for the last question

Connie says:

alright yay!

I'll concede.

i'm thinking of givign this survey to teachers...

just saying

Gabriella says:

Abortion remains a major topic in feminist discussion and scholarship. I believe that it is absolutely necessary for abortion to be legal; this provides women with safe procedures and resources to educate themselves. It also ensures that a woman's fundamental right is protected; the right to her own body.

Connie says:

oh wow.

that's... smart.'

Gabriella says:

As a Catholic woman, I am well aware of pressure from the Church, however, it does not influence my stance on abortion at all.

I'M NOT DONE

Connie says:

haha

sorry

continue

Gabriella says:

I am bothered though by the pro-choice, pro-life binary. I don't believe that I fit into either category exclusively; I would not choose to get an abortion if I got pregnant by my own actions.

Connie says:

god.

there are only 3 and a half lines.... joking, I actually love that you're saying stuff

Gabriella says:

I feel that it's time for women to recognize and pay attention to the situations that lead to abortions and work together to provide resources for women having to make such a difficult decision.

Connie says:

you are too smart lady.

Gabriella says:

i'm done

lol

nah...as i said...i just have a lot of practice giving that spiel

Connie says:

god

finally

also, I am copying and pasting this convo...

Gabriella says:

that's fine

Connie says:

and using it as my 'resource'

for english

i think hall will love it

Gabriella says:

ahahahaha

i've never been cited before

Connie says:

no prob.. ill do it for you... complicated last name and all

Gabriella says:

aww thanks darling

Connie says:

you're welcome. I'm feeling generous today..

anyway, how was schooL?

Gabriella says:

boring

lol

Connie says:

fine, give me the boring details...

I swear, I hate this part of the job description, "listen..." geez... who knew being a friend was so hard.

but humour me anyway and just tell me.

Gabriella says:

it's not even worth it

it was just boring

lol

Connie says:

alright fine

i won't push

so... how are you?

Gabriella says:

just tired

and hungry

Connie says:

as usua

*l

Gabriella says:

i'm gonna go get food

Connie says:

alright

Gabriella says:

yeah it's true....i always do feel tired

lol

k got my food

Connie says:

haha

what;d you get?

Gabriella says:

cabbage stew

lol

it was in the frige

Connie says:

it sounds... delightful

oh!

apparently, I am a soda

srsly

Gabriella says:

huh?

Connie says:

Connie Tangy would make an amazing drink

Gabriella says:

OMG IT WOULD

Connie says:

that's what these few ppl at Ward have dubbed me

Gabriella says:

you could be a cocktail drink too!

Connie says:

they were like, "it sounds delicious. I would totally drink you! ohg god, and now i'm thirsty."

Gabriella says:

i can see it being like a pink lemonade colour

Connie says:

no wait... I'm juice, soda, cocktail...

beautiful

Gabriella says:

lol

Connie says:

don't tell tash or angela though, I'm trying to hide it from them... I'd never hear the end of it elsewise

Gabriella says:

ahaha

ok fine

Connie says:

do you have a best friend?

Gabriella says:

hmmm

not definitevely

joanna's as close as it gets

and elyssa in quebec

Connie says:

i can't imagine being friends with someone so far away.

i mean, close friends

Gabriella says:

we are

you gotta remember we've known eachother since we were born

Connie says:

oh wow

Gabriella says:

but she has a boyfriend now and we don't see eachother as often

Connie says:

aww

is the boyfriend nice though?

which reminds me...

Gabriella says:

yes he is

Connie says:

we have boy drama with this girlie called diardre. she eats lunch with me everyday, and yet, I cant recall her last name on a bad day. so, yes... she means a lot to me.

anyway, she's shallow and kinda superficial and has bad taste and not the sharpest tool in the shed, and popularity matters to her but she's sweet and genuine (sorta, not really), so whatever. I deal.

Gabriella says:

hehe

Connie says:

anyway, she has boy drama. Now becaue the only other time I can talk with her is when I try to follow up on gossip girl, and (I don't.) so we don't really talk. So, I'm trying to be super enthusiastic about her boy drama

srsly. the whole ordeal, the gasps, the 'OMG!" the 'Aww's.". I should get a grammy.

BUT I CANNOT DEAL. srsly, even goody natasha and goody goody angela have said, "Just go out with him already."

but anyway, every night, she's telling me about the guy and I'm srsly, just like, "aww..."

I CANNOT DEAL.

sorry. taht was a longer rant than i expected.

Gabriella says:

let me catch up
